Bantam?
From what I can tell the trailer was originally red with black fenders. I've been researching prewar Bantam trucks and noticed a common paint scheme is red with black fenders. Also they had 6 lug wheels with hubcaps similar to the spare on the front of my trailer. Also, it looks like this 1937 Bantam truck has the exact same tailgate chain setup.
