The massive Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas just a couple of weeks away. Products announced at the show will (probably) make it to market by Spring 2014. Hidden beneath the expected avalanche of 4K TVs and video cameras will be new phones and tablets that will be of interest to overland travelers.
A couple of rumors are making the rounds today.
Google may announce an 8 inch tablet made by LG, price about $300. Personally, I think 8 inches is the best size for an in-vehicle nav setup.
Google may finally announce an upgrade to their 10 inch tablet, price about $400. Expect a processor upgrade.
Samsung may announce a new, less expensive version of its 7 inch Galaxy Tab. All Galaxy Tab models so far have included GPS.
Samsung may announce an upgraded Galaxy phone, called the S5. I'd expect a faster 64 bit processor, a 5 inch screen, maybe a slightly curved screen, maybe a waterproof/dustproof metal case. The retail price will probably be higher than the current S4, which will stay on the market.
