Quadrotrac

Sorry, how could i miss that:

Well, big ********** mean a lot of bytes in the model, it just got too big to work with. Also you guys should look at the Quadrotrac, if there`s a nice girl in there, everyone looks just at it. :Wow1::ylsmoke:

Finished the mill:

Now it`s time for the Quadrotrac again. Started by cutting the mounts for the right axle:

17974892vg.jpg

Had to redo the main beam because i used a 5mm instead of 4mm wall tubing an the slide out wouldn`t go in:

17974898cs.jpg

Track tensioner:

17974906dd.jpg

Turned down the wheel bearings, because the center was to big:

17974912ch.jpg

17974922ek.jpg

Fit`s great:

17974926ki.jpg

Right axle:

17974932wi.jpg

Bolted on the bogie bushings:

17974947du.jpg

And tacked on the axle:

17974955di.jpg

Tried to get the whole thing on a picture:

17974967yw.jpg

17974973rr.jpg

Then i started with the clutch. Will convert it to a hydraulic system. But there`s not enough room on the transmission, so i have to use the oem cable:

17974983ni.jpg

Did some math for the leverage:

17974987az.jpg

Started witht the mount:

17974994sk.jpg

And the lever:

17975007xj.jpg

Had to mill down the rear side of the slave cylinder because there was still the rough casting:

17974998qs.jpg

Can`t let the boom idea go. There`s some room on the right of the cab where i could mount a strong mounting beam:

17977051op.jpg

Boom would be like this:

This is the first sketch:

Would like to hear some thoughts...

Wow:Wow1:big progress on the quadrotrac Steinez! I also like your new milling machine. Glad to see you got the redneck engineering logo on your cab. Too many bits in a scetch program for the woman with big tits can be a problem. I guess we will have to do as you say and focus on your project! Cheers, Chilli...:ylsmoke:

Wasted a lot of time trying to get the clutch working before i quit and decided to just use a longer cable.

Then i started building the cage:

Originally i wanted to use 5"x5" square tubing, but when i was ordering it, i realized i had about 30yards of 2 3/8" tubing. So i couldn`t justify to spend like $150 on the square tubing.

Continued working on the cage today:

Wasn`t really happy with the notching on the mill, so i brought out my old notcher that i built a few years ago. Worked a lot better:

Put in the rear cross:

18014414oq.jpg

18014424pv.jpg

Front should be strong enough like this:

18014432vo.jpg

Also wanted something like a roof rack on it:

18014446au.jpg

Then i started with the lights. Got 8 of those xenon lights that i`m going to use:

18014457nj.jpg

Had to mount the rotating light first to check for clearance:

18014460gx.jpg

18014470uf.jpg

18014486et.jpg

Unfortunately there`s not enough room, so i could only mount one :

18014489jo.jpg

18014501uj.jpg

Made a protection bar for it:

18014511su.jpg

Here`s a total:

Also started cutting some toolsteel for tomorrow. Really looking forward, wanted to build this for a long time:

Can I ask some personal questions?

How old are you? Did you teach yourself these skills?

Amazed as always...Wainiha

Sure you can. I`ll be 24 in about a month. Besides from a little bit of turning and welding i learned at school i teached everything myself.

Now I just hate you! ;-) Just kidding! But I am even more impressed with all your work now! :-D

I have always been impresed with your skills from the first time I saw you working on my old Chevy. The Quadrotrac is also looking great with the new tubing and gear ready to go. It looks like we are not that far off from a test drive. Cheers, Chillli....:)

It was finally time today to build something i wanted a long time ago:

I think you got it, i made a set of dimple dies. This is how it works: Drill a pilot hole:

18025511we.jpg

Punch the hole:

And dimple it:

The result:

This one is a gusset for the light protection bar:

18025568dp.jpg

Made two sets for now:

18025580dp.jpg

First real work was a gusset for the engine mount:

What? Chilli and Stein are friends? All the cool guys hang together I guess.

Someone needs to build me a Rube Goldberg 4x4, while someone else shows me the mountains then cooks great food....:)
