ambulance air conditioning question

I looked at a few ambulance and was told the ac will run from the engine or when plugged in . Do they use dual compressors? Or please explain how they do this? I would like to convert my bus to do this..

I have not seen any that run when they are plugged in. But it is possible to use dual compressors. My old sportsmobile had that system. Not very efficient as there is not enough airflow across the condenser without running noisy electric fans that can drain your batteries even with it plugged in.

Most run off the engine coolant, but they could have a dual system to keep the box cool while it is waiting to be dispatched.

Exactly. AC for the rear is separate from the cabin AC that runs off the vehicle engine. rear runs while plugged in to stay cool while in quarters then while driving it runs off a separate gas generator.

I was looking at the ProAir rear AC models and they appear to be 12v/110. For those without the rear AC/Heat, they would be a nice install.
