Loved reading through the full report, looks like it was an amazing trip! Definitely a little jealous, I need to find the time to get out on something like that again... Glad it all worked out and you had an awesome time!

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it! Again, appreciate the recommendations on the campground and the dunes. This pic from the dunes is probably one of my favorites of the whole trip. Almost looks like a snake or an eel is slithering through them.

Here's a pic/vid from the trip. Added some more pictures that didn't make it in the write up. There were to many!

Took the family up to the Humboldt State Redwood park for 4 days of camping. Had a great time. I continue to love this truck more and more. It's versatility is just amazing. I beat the snot out of it and it keeps coming back for more. Has close to 10,000 offroad miles and 5,000 towing. Towed our 25ft 6800 travel trailer without breaking a sweat. It's a little mushy in the rear end at times but very stable once you get used to it.

Had a blast on a recent trip back up to the Black Rock Desert. Explored a new route and had one of the craziest adventures yet. Read the full adventure report here: http://www.expeditionxoffroad.com/#!Escape-from-Reno/conf/557e34e50cf208e6a4e17729

Got a few updates. Biggest being that I installed Icon's new RXT rear suspension setup. The setup comes with new progressive springs, bumpstop kit, and their new patent pending bypass shocks with reservoir. Install was pretty strait forward and took myself and a buddy roughly 8 hours to install it all. The kit increases up travel by 20% and down travel by 30%. The Raptor is lacking in up travel big time which has led to many a donkey kick on the trail once I ran out of travel. Icon acomplished this by repositioning the mounting spot of the shock.

I was really wasn't sure what to expect but I was stoked with the results after last weekends trip. I put the truck so some rough terrain and the truck just soaks it up. I actually have to relearn the truck now. Stuff I used to have to slow down for I can just blow through now. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on this setup.

Old triple bypass shocks. Notice where they mount at the top. This is the stock mounting position.

I also changed up my bed storage. I really liked my old chase rack but it was really heavy. I deciding to swap it out for a very simple rack. The old rack weighed in at 184lbs and the new (used from a friend) comes in at 44lbs. New one isn't as trick as the old one but I'd rather have the 140lb weight savings.

New setup. 2 spares are stacked. All my tools, fluids, and recovery gear is in the tool box. And my jack is mounted to the floor with a quick release skit setup.

And finally, we hosted a run from Barstow to Vegas. 2 day run covering 400 miles of the Mojave desert. Here's a pic and video of the adventure.

Hey Guys,

I'll be heading out the weekend of September 18th for another run out of Carson City. Thought I'd throw an invite out to anyone who would like to join us. This will be a fast paced trip so please make sure your rig is built for it. The terrain won't be to rough but the trucks take a beating from all the vibrations at speed. For example, a tacoma or F150 with some upgraded shocks like Icon, Fox, & king should do fine on this one.

You'll need a VHF radio and some sort of GPS. Ideally a lowrance but motion x app or something else on a tablet or smart phone will work. You can get a nice preprogrammed handheld from rugged radios for under $100: http://www.ruggedradios.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1274

Interested in your new rack, was it home made or is there a brand I can look up. Also your Husky box, does that fit below the bed rails?

Thanks

What a great video! That red truck looked amazing. You thinking about updating to the new truck in 2017?
