Storage box solution? That isn't outrageously priced

those connectors look handy.

any chance you know the name brand or could link a website?

sorry for my slow reply, didn't get in front of the laptop earlier. simply google for 'aluminum plastic connectors' and then click the 'images' tab. there are lots of companies selling them. even on ebay, look for 'alumnum square connectors'....

Skip it. I bought one, then returned it. Too flexible for my tastes-would likely collapse (over time) if strapped down.

I ended up getting some of the box shaped bins from the container store. Same price, will fit for my application, appear sturdy (definitely sturdier than the new Home Depot bin).

Easy to put some foam strip onto-not water proof, but I like to put desicants in with stuff if I'm storing long term.

Will fit my stove nicely, if it's setting on top of other gear.

Might find rubber gasket materials at an auto trim shop/body shop that will fit your boxes to water proof them. :)

That would work nice.

Big box/hardware stores will also have all different kinds of gasket stuff (foam, rubber, plastic, felt). Not sure which is better/cheaper.

The quickie foam I installed above cost ~$1.

I have those same bins from the container store (black with red latches) and they have both cracked on me around the handles, not sure how or at what point but they are typically full of heavy gear and have had several years of use. Still using them though....

I recently retired my Action Packer after many years of service.
Here is the container that I replaced it with...

So far it seems durable and weather tight for roof rack travel...and it's made in the USA

At 87 quarts, isn't it really easy to load them up to the point where they're a pain to move around? I like smaller containers I can load in a more modular fashion to split gear by type and use. Of course, I can't fit large items in them, though.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

True, it is a bit big...but it's generally loaded with light, bulky objects like sleeping pads so weight is not an issue.

Well I'm planning on adding a drawer system to the back of my Nissan Frontier this summer, but I'm also looking at having totes to place inside the drawer system, as well as some to keep up in the back seat. I'm looking for interlocking totes that are stack-able. Most importantly I want them to be very durable, not cheap plastic. Square would be best, most Rubbermaid items I find have a stupid unusable taper from wide to skinny top to bottom. So searching this forum I see a lot of you use pelican, or some other military grade tote and that's fine if you have the bankroll. But I can't justify spending $300-$400 on a plastic box, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So with that being said any suggestions?

I see your in Goodyear, check out the Wolf Packs at Sierra Expeditions in Mesa... Just call before you go, they run out of them pretty quick when they come in.

I just found the same totes that the container store sells on sale through tomorrow from the manufacturer:

Nice price & they have clear ones which I didn't notice over at my local container store. Clear would be good for around the house & inside the truck for me. I allways forget what I put in which bins, makes for fun a scavenger hunt whenever I look for stuff...

Unsure on the price, but I have had great luck with Plano in the past. I had some basic totes that all of my earthly possessions went into on my drive from San Diego, to Wisconsin, to Virginia in my Frontier's bed. Rain, snow, sleet, dirt was all kept out, and they were nowhere near proofed against anything that got past the tarp. I am looking at buying one, or two of the Sportsmans from Plano. http://www.planomolding.com/subCategory.php?CID=153 I have not decided on the model. I will buy buying one of these for a medical kit though. http://www.planomolding.com/product.php?BCCID=166&PID=1243
