2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited - Ursa Minor J30 Pop Up Camper - Fully Built!!!

SOLD SOLD SOLD

July 6 edit, a later post mentioned lower selling price but I did not update the first post. I'm now asking $50k which is closer to private party value plus 50% cost of the additional parts. The offer to remove the winch for another $1k discount still stands.

It kills me to do this, but a growing family forces the sale of my baby. For sale is my expedition ready 2012 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited JK with pop-up camper. I purchased it brand new in June 2012 and have been building my dream rig. No expense spared, no prior intentions of selling this beauty. It started with a 3.5" AEV lift and I've been continuously upgrading all weak or undersized components. Every item has been carefully planned for compatibility, comfort, to retain great road manners and amazing off road capability and durability. I wanted to build the perfect balance and finally have it all dialed in. Roughly $6000 of components installed last month alone. We have enjoyed several great trips through the NW/SW, eating up the highway miles, washboard back roads, remote trails, and have been loving it. The steering is very tight, no wandering, no wobbles, no play. Easily driven at speed in all conditions with one finger on the steering wheel. Great handling (really!) with AEV's progressive springs and tuned bilstein shocks, raised track bars and heavy duty suspension components. No cheap parts found here. This rig is a real head turner too!

Currently the Jeep has 20k miles. The engine oil and filter are fresh, new air filter, tires just rotated. I keep up on 3000 mile oil/filter changes and five tire rotations. I re-torque and grease all suspension components at this interval or sooner. The tires have a ton of tread with even wear.
500 miles prior, I re-geared the rear axle, and installed a full new front axle housing with all new components. Both Tom woods driveshafts were just rebuilt with quality spicer sealed joints (Tom woods supplied u joints were junk). Once I return home from work (one week from now) I will flush both differentials from break in and install the new lube locker gaskets and teraflex rear axle cover.

As I am currently out of state, I am posting some current and past pictures. Many pictures do not show all current modifications, but they should all be shown. Overall the jeep is in excellent condition. It does get used off road so you will find the rear painted fenders are chipped from rocks being kicked up (an extra set of non-painted gray fenders are included), same for the door hinges, a typical jeep thing. There is no body damage, but you will see some scrapes on the skid plate under the transfer case. As the control arms and front axle are new, they are still nice and freshly painted/powder coated. No big gouges in the frame or anything of that sort. It is used, not abused.

Several components have been upgraded, built up, in and some cases removed for a better or stronger part. The AEV suspension was a great base, but the soft factory like components quickly wore out and caused handling problems. Below is a list of the current parts, including the options on the jeep. Links to most components have been included if you want to do the research yourself. I have done all of the research (including some trial and error) myself, and performed all work myself aside from the re-gear. I'm very meticulous and particular about my rigs.

Below the aftermarket component list (Totaling more than $26000 in parts alone!), you'll find a selection of pictures. Please feel free to ask any questions, or request pictures that I can take when I return home. The jeep is located in Hillsboro Oregon and I'm happy to meet people near by. Thanks for looking!

With a private party retail value of $35k, and over $26k in parts, I'm asking $55,000. Anyone who knows jeeps will see that these are well thought out, high quality components and one drive will prove it. I feel this is a great price for a very solid, drive away rig that is ready to go anywhere. There is no comparison between this jeep and another with a basic lift and roof top tent.

Your setup was one of the reason why I decided to purchase my URSA J30 top! All your modifications are very well thought out. Good luck with your sale.

Oh man what a Jeep. Good luck with the sale. You might want to post up on the Wrangler Forum. They'll go crazy over it

Thanks! Once I get home and have access to a computer I'm going to throw it to the wolves on Craigslist and jeep forums. I need to clean it up a bit first anyway.

I haven't had a chance to detail the outside due to weather. I did however clean up the interior a bit. Note that I haven't "moved out" of the jeep as I intend to keep using it until it is sold.

Here are a handful of pictures I just took, showing accurate and current condition, highlighting many of the modifications.

Notice that it isn't a slapped together suspension. Everything functions amazingly well together. It is really the best "hybrid" suspension I've driven. This thing really doesn't handle on the road like a lifted jeep. It is solid and sure footed. Equally happy to carve corners in the mountains, blast down washboard roads, crawl through rock gardens or even tow a reasonably sized trailer. All without a squeak, creak or rattle.
The shocks, springs and bump stops are all proper lengths. Meaning the springs don't unseat or risk falling out at full droop, there is no tire rubbing or metal on metal contact at full suspension compression. I'll also point out that I extended the axle vent tubes. The rear is now behind the brake light, front is at the top of the hood line (transfer case vent line at same location).

In some pictures you might notice heavy duty zip ties on the inner fenders. From the factory they sit loosely, flap in the wind, contact sway bars during articulation etc. Everything is neatly tied up now and nothing loosely flaps around like it use to.

Additionally I have a ton of factory spare parts. I may start listing them for sale individually but as it, I will include whatever I have left at the time if the buyer is interested. Some examples are front and rear driveshafts, yokes, tie rod, track bars, drag link, misc hardware, factory and OME steering dampers, gray fenders, ball joints, exhaust cross over pipe, evap canister skid, spare u joints for the Tom woods shafts, black carpet floor mats, a spiderweb shade mesh top, head lights, fog lights, front bumper. As mentioned earlier, the electric sway bar motor is included as well. Keep it, sell it, whatever just take it out of my garage. ;)

Heated seats, heated mirrors (via defrost switch)

The lower switch is not in use, but powered. Simply hook up power leads from the spod box straight to your own lights or other accessory. New switch covers can be purchased separately.

Factory navigation and premium sound with subwoofer. XM radio/weather/traffic, CD/DVD/MP3, blue tooth, voice command. Great audio quality. Aux inputs via a USB cable in the center console, USB or 1/8" audio jack on the front, or Bluetooth. On board hard drive, easy upload of pics, videos and mp3s via the USB plug and an external hard drive.
null_zps40ece493.jpg

AEV calibration tool. Allows calibration for gears, tires, disabling the electric sway bar disco, TPMS, day time head lights, and many other things. Also has an easy high idle feature. Simply plug into the OB port and the dimmer switch on the turn signal stock controls RPM. Great for winching or high electrical draw/recharge.

USB and 12v outlet in center console. Paper owners manual (it doesn't actually come with one from the factory)

Steering wheel controls, today's mileage and information center. Turn by turn directions will also show up here, you can also disable/enable hill start assist here (amazing from crawling with a manual trans).
null_zps6d2a697f.jpg

The rears seats also fold flat. Side airbag tags noted on the front seats.
null_zps562d8166.jpg

Rear suspension showing factory tow package, aev springs and shocks, synergy coil spring wedges, aev track bar bracket (raises roll center 7"), synergy track bar, deleted factory muffler and relocated evap canister (improved handling of the track bar and raised bracket was more important to me). I have yet to install the teraflex differential cover.
null_zps1a4d637c.jpg

Exhaust turn down from magnaflow muffler, metalcloak control arms painted black, Tom woods driveshaft with spicer joints and proper driveline/pinion angles. 4.88 yukons with factory electric locker.
null_zps2f37eccd.jpg

Hard to tell from this angle but the muffler doesn't hang below the frame.
null_zps422d0f58.jpg

Trimmed, sealed and painted pinch seam and rock rails (paint isn't as pretty on the rock rails but they're rust free still.
null_zps3b6e7aac.jpg

Don't mind the grease and dirt. This was from the old greasable u joints. The afe crossover pipe is behind this transmission mount, out of harms way and clear of the driveshaft.
null_zpsab6edc70.jpg

Front driveline angle.
null_zps7d81aab4.jpg

This shows the trimmed tube from the frame. Sway bar made contact here initially so I trimmed and painted. JKS end links (adjusted longer to prevent binding during droop with sway bar disconnected). Synergy track bar brace, sector shaft brace, track bar, tie rod. (I still need to remove the factory stabilizer mount).

Tire tread depth. All tires are equal. Yes that is a quarter. The siping makes a world of difference in wet/snow/ice traction.
