Don't forget that Justin is an engineer guys. I'm sure he's done all the headscratching calculations.......

For all of you who were wondering if this project still had a pulse. I finally found a worthy samurai. Project reengage! Found an 88 tintop that had been frame offed. Very clean. With a vortec v6 swap! Everything was replace new when reassembled. Here's a sneak peek. More updates soon!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411321255.277567.jpg

Hi I'm new here and can't figure out how to start a thread through tapatalk so thought id post here.
Im searching for where to find scissor lift assembly to make my own pop top. I just bought a 96 f350 7.3 wvo and put a topper on it. I want to build a fiberglass pop top and mount on top of topper then I'd cut a hatch to be able to climb through from inside.
I thiught about buying an ol pull behind pop top and gutting it but I don't want the waste. Anybody got a link to a scissor lift kit or just the assembly bars?? Thanks!

Got the Samurai on the road! The vortec v6 is crazy for this size rig! Been slowly plugging along on the little stuff. Built front and rear bumpers, all aluminum with Led lights. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412043058.202956.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1412043075.352626.jpg

By Vortec V6, do you mean the 4.3L, like out of a 1/2 ton pickup? Or a smaller 3.1L or similar? I didn't think a 4.3 would fit in such a small vehicle..

Yes. Common port injected 4.3 vortec v6. It fits nicely. 190+ hp 250 lb/ft torque!

Continued again...

A project that emerged was a heat source for the cabin and the future pop top. So, I came up with a solution of making a custom furnace pretty much from scratch to replace the drivers rear window. I sourced a propane burner and solenoid valve, some thermocouples and made an air/air heat exchanger then crammed it all into custom aluminum enclosure then powder coated it black to help blend in. I used an Arduino to handle the electronic ignition, read the thermocouple for overheat protection and run the thermostat and circulation fan. Works awesome and I can remove 3 screws and reinstall the glass window in the summer.

Finally. If anyone was curious about the Vortec v-6 swap. It's completely finished as well now. The works. Power steering, tranny cooler, 150amp alternator. Really help the samurai get down the road and cruise well.

I'm wrapping up the fabrication on the pop top this week and hopefully installing it next week in time for a trip to the outer banks at Thanksgiving. I will post up some pics when that is done!
