IR conversion

Has anyone done an infrared conversion on their camera? If so, was it worth the cost, and what filter did you choose? How does it affect your style of shooting, i.e what types of scenes and or conditions are suitable for IR as opposed vs normal photograhpy.

Thinking about converting my old Panasonic GF1 into a 715nm or possibly full spectrum camera. It's an older body that doesn't get much use anymore, so i figure this would give me an opportunity to give it new life.

You need to be able to 'see' in black and white to really get a feel for IR. I like high contrast landscape and simple cityscape shots for IR conversions.

If you love B&W then (to me at least) it seems logical to convert 1 of your older cameras to IR. Try some IR filters in photoshop on your current crop of images to get an understanding of how if affects your images. That should give you the answer to 'is it worth the cost'.

Good luck :)
