I know this is a bit late, but only just found the thread.

There is a German website dedicated to the James Cook/Marco Polo models built on the Merc chassis http://forum.james-cook-freunde.de/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=f78bfa487dba7c3366afe86c7430f163

If you send me your email address I can send you a few PDFs dealing with the fitout, fridge, heater, water heater, etc. Also a French document dealing with the interior and how to go about repairing it.

I've had three James Cooks over the years - a 207D and two 309Ds. All are/were excellent long term travel vehicles, 3 months in the 207D and 9 months in a 309D, plus plenty of Outback trips in Australia - dirt roads, etc.

My only wish is that it had a diff lock - some of the automatic 309Ds came with a diff lock - would make it just a bit better in the dirt and sand.

Hi Roger!

James Cook Freunde has been super helpful for me, with a little help from google translate! Quite a few helpful folks over there.

The other link you posted is great! There's a few pdfs on there that i hadn't come across yet, so thanks very much! If you have any others i'd love to have them. I'll pm you my email.

Here's a couple pics of the westy, i haven't had a chance to do a write up and show it off.
