About 1816:
Pride. History. Integrity. Rising from nearly 200 years of hand-forged
tradition, the 1816 field-inspired apparel and accessory collection glows
with the rich, vintage patina of the Remington® heritage. Established in
Ilion, New York in 1816, generations of sons, fathers and grandfathers
worked side by side to hand-forge the stocks and barrels of this Great
American icon. Now, 1816 bridges the timelessness of our visionary
forefathers to the sporting gentleman of modern day.

As America's oldest gunmaker, born in 1816, ours is a story that is still
unfolding. It's a rich history spun from tales that stretch from the Wild
West to modern day. Our rugged collection of true sporting apparel and
gear is infused with the spirit of two centuries of pioneers, hunters and
sportsmen who placed their lives and livelihood in the trustworthy design
and craftsmanship of the Remington® name. Nothing but the best would do
then, nothing but the best will do now. These are the clothes we wear, the
gear we carry. Nearly 200 years later, the traditions we uphold.

I've got two of their jackets. The Gortex one lasted thru 5 seasons of sailboat racing a decade ago and was still my go to rain jacket at this years Overland Expo. It's as good as it gets.

OMG - That's hilarious.

Remington sucked long before any VC firms got involved.

Remington was a classic example of a company that traded on the strength of their historical brand recognition they earned thanks to 2 outstanding products- namely the 870 shotgun and the Rem 700 rifle action. They then proceeded to run the company into the crapper by manufacturing awful quality products and passing them off as "just as good as the original". And they truly were awful in every sense of the word.

Once people realized that the 870 they bought was nothing close to the lifetime quality and dependability of their grandpa's 870 or realized their Rem 700 happened to go off randomly on their deer stand without a finger anywhere near the trigger the word was out and Remington began to circle the bowl.

The VCs simply did the expeditious thing and drained the tank.
