How to store ipad

I have used an ipad for all my navigating for a few years now and love it. I bought a new ipad which I use all the time as just a normal ipad but am keeping my old ipad for just navigating. Is there a way I can store it without ruining the battery since I won't be using it and going through charging cycles? If I just let it die completely and sit for a few months I worry it will ruin the battery. Any ideas?

Considering the iPad uses a flash drive and not a hard drive for memory, when it is turned off, it should be able to last a month or so without discharging completely. Hope this helps.

I would just keep it plugged in and topped off. If the battery gets shot, then I would just purchase a replacement battery for cheap. Should only take you about 10 - 15 minutes to install a new one.
