Hello all, I am doing an overland trip with my family at the end of this month. We are cruising through southern Utah, from Bryce to Moab. One portion of the trip is reputed to be quite adventurous and challenging. I am looking for people who might either be in that area or live in the vicinity that could render aid if needed. Particularly looking for people in the Bluff, Blanding, Monticello or Moab areas that might be able to reach in a time of need.
We will be taking a combination of trails off the 95, heading north through the Dark Canyon area towards Elephant Hill Loop. Probably taking Cottonwood Wash to the Cottonwood Canyon trails, to Beef Basin, to Bobby's Hole/Ruin Park trails to Elephant Hill Loop, and then exit east on 211.
Our dates are tentatively Wednesday the 26th through Friday 28th.
We are going to start along Butler Wash to Arch Canyon first on Wednesday morning, so not sure when exactly we will hit Cottonwood to start that last leg of this long journey.
I have a SPOT transmitter (http://www.findmespot.com), so if you live in the area, I can add you to an email distribution list should I need non-life threatening help (like if my truck breaks, but we are otherwise okay).
If interested, you may contact me offline via "nathan" AT "woodsfamily.cc"
If you'd like to join us on the trail, that's always a possibility also. Right now, we are doing it solo, but that's more an issue of circumstance rather than choice.
I am taking the HAM test this Saturday (just Technician Class), so I might have my call sign by the time we depart (March 22). I will update this list with that info if our status changes.
Thanks,
Nathan Woods
