Testing newly acquired G

Hello,

I've been lurking this forum for some time and I thought I can share with you my recent purchased of a '97 300GE. Previously, i owned an '84 280GE SWB which i regrettably sold 4 years ago. The G is an Indonesian assembly model oddly enough still retaining the old M103 3.0 engine i suppose to cut the price. The car is in original condition, first hand owner, original paint work (silver smoke) and done 60k km. I've done the following upgrades and repairs:
1. Installed the bull bar
2. New radiator, hose, and themostat
3. New disc brakes and pads
4. Flushed the oils
5. Toyo M/T 33"

Since this is a heavy car and the engine feels under performed, I believe it needs a major $$$ rebuild. The previous owner stated the engine hasn't got major works rather than periodic oil change. I've ordered the 3.6 Brabus Engine, exhaust, G500 front brakes, and brabus servo+master cylinder. The brabus engine will arrive in 2 months and while waiting the car is ready for a new paint work next week. Pics are coming soon!!

Future upgrades include winch bumper, new suspensions with 40-50mm lift, atik wheels??

Anyway, here I post some pics where me and my buddy in the FJ62 were playing in the offroad park last weekend. Other than a slight overheat, the G performed flawlessly. Hope you enjoy

Chris

M103 Brabus engine has not 285hp. I think that they have à round 240. I had once a Brabus g36 and hop was ok. Consomption was ko.

It sure does. I would know, had one in my 463 for nearly a decade. . .
AMG 3.6 L M104.941[edit]
There were 3.6 L conversions done to both the M103 and M104 by Brabus, among others. AMG developed a 3.6 L M104 that was used in the W202 C36 AMG (W202), the W124 E36 AMG (W124) and the E36 AMG (W210) vehicles.

The AMG 3.6 M104 was rated at 280 horsepower (210 kW) at 5,750 rpm and 284 pound-feet (385 N·m) of torque at 4,000 rpm using the HFM engine management system.AMG later conceded that since the engine was hand modified, power outputs could vary slightly from 276 hp to 287 hp.

The boost in displacement was obtained by boring the 2.8 litre M104 block by 2.1MM and using a highly modified version of the crankshaft from the 3.5L OM603 to increase throw by 18.9MM; this necessitated the use of new forged pistons with shorter skirts. A larger intake crossover pipe, freer flowing exhaust, a unique intake camshaft, minor changes to the cylinder head, and modifications to the HFM fuel computer also contribute to the increase in power.
