I use Nikon and Sony by choice.

I am not brand loyal, I just tend to acquire stuff. I have newer Canons and older Minolta's. Hopefully soon I can afford a decent large format camera as I love sheet film. I am just not sure what brand yet.

You don't have an opition if you use two different ones.
The one I normally keep in my vehicle is a Canon PowerShot A400 that I got free with a print. Not a bad camera and has held up pretty well. Even after being dropped about 6'
My other camera is a Kodak EasyShare C813
Olympus only since 1974 starting with the OM-1 (still works).
When my Olympus died (OM-2) I picked up a Canon digital (Sureshot) at work and it works fine. One of our staff is on his way to becoming a great photographer and he has an Olympus digital SLR and I envy (covet) it. When the time is right I will upgrade to an Olympus digital with a decent zoom lense.

It's not about the truck and it is not about the distance traveled. Get out there with whatever you have, meet people and see things. Push the envelope of your comfort zone and live.
I still use a No.2 Brownie. It was made before 1920. I love using older cameras. What's funny is only two out of my ten cameras are younger then I am. All my others are older then me by 9 years or more.
Even though it is essentially a point and shoot, I can get some really unique images out of it.
