And thats why I still havnt taken the winter treads yet...

We have seen snow as late as JUNE here in north idaho :sombrero:
Yeah maybe not a smart move on my side.
I got a little greedy wanting to save the studs a bit. But well enough we got some help from the sun and the paved roads dried up fast.

Just took the the camper for it's first "summer"-mission.

Nothing much really just drove to a lake 15 minutes from home.

Waking up to this view after a workweek isn't bad. And no need for wintertires .

We spent the morning soaking up the sun. It was quite different from last weekends trip with snow and subzero temperatures. And then we went for a mountainbikeride. Or something...

In the afternoon I was able to borrow some garagespace and a lift in our neighbours garage.

Changed the oil and filter on the truck and had a quick look underneath. It's nice to have friends with big garages!

Thank You!
I've been around the Southwest some and I must say that You got some amazing nature too. But also I must admit that I've had a good winter.

I have noticed during the winter that snow gets packed between the camper and cab. Then it melts and water starts to drip along the front wall (same with rain). I think that could be a problem in the long run since water has a way of getting in all the wrong places.

I'm going to add this to prevent water from getting in between the camper and the truckbed. Mounting this so that the waterdrops will drip off away from the wall.

Since we mounted the camper in december in the cold it wasn't the ideal conditions handling rubberseals. My initial idea was to glue rubberstripes on the truckbed rim and also on the bottom of the camper. But it was impossible to get anything to stick to metal. So I have only had half the thickness I wanted. Since the camper is bolted to the truckbed and that one isn't exactely level, I want to have a pretty thick layer of rubber which I can compress to make a tight seal.

So took the camper off tonight. Much easier taking it off using machinery compared to when we put it on by manual labour.

Getting good use of the neighbours facilities and help.

So instead of a camper I now got an adventure trailer!
Thinking of trying to pass the safety- and emissionsinspection for this year while having the camper off.
In that way I won't risk getting into any discussions if it should be registered as a rv or anything like that. It is strictly considered as a load but with those inspectors You never now.

Made a simple lid to protect the interior while having the camper off.

Got an entire roll of EPDM-stripes for free from a buddy. Katching!

Since I have glued insulation to the walls and have a heater, fusepanel, inverter and some other stuff I'd like to keep that out of the rain.

Trying the lid and a beer out....it works!

Went by the safety-and emission inspection. Failed with the parking brake "unsufficient braking capacity".
So I had to dig in to that.
The chevy has drumbrakes on the backwheels.

Took some hard effort to get the rusty piece of ******** off. Force and lubricante and some cursewords finally made it.

Basically it was just jammed up and the self adjusting system had stopped working. Took it all apart, got it running again and adjusted the wire.
Cleared the "after check up". So now I'm all good for another year.
Now we can improve the rubberseal between the camper and truckbed and put it back on.
The camper has been hanging out in it's own little crib.

Since I bought the truck it have had this as a doorhandle on the drivers side.

Pretty redneck even if the PO tried to make it fancy using a golfball.

Some improvement!

We picked up a drunk hitchiker a couple of weeks ago just to avoid him getting run over. Pretty funny dude and as a thank for the ride we got one of his two cowboyhats he was wearing.

I think it was a great hat getting the job done in the sun and it kind of goes with the truck.

Golf ball door handle, what could be better. Lol. I love the camper. You've done an excellent job. Could you take a comparison picture of the led headlights at night?

Thank you.
This is a "before" pic that I found of the low beam.

Will try an remember next time driving at night to get a shot for comparison. Until then this is what I got.

This is what it looks like totally led converted.

Otherwise there has not been much progress or improvements on the camper. Been occupied this summer building a "home" for the camper and our trucks.

Not done but it's weather proof with the roof in place.
9c67d80f11f721f9abb06cfedacca237.jpg

We designed it so it has 3.07 meters clearance (10 feet) and will easily accommodate the truck with the camper on. Hopefully it will continue to have enough clearance for whatever vehicle/camper/rv or other stuff the future will bring. It's quite handy to be able to store our kayaks hanging from the beams and still be able to park our other truck or car underneath.
8c17955d2b9873dbc94e33bf82c665fb.jpg

It takes us 15 minutes from our doorstep until we hit the water. 5 minutes to load, 5 minutes to drive and 5 minutes to unload and get in the water.

Hopefully I will get back a little sooner this time with some improvements on the camper.

Took the truck for a short spin tonight.
This is how the "new" improved low beam looks like.

Really satisfied with the result.

Also forgot to mention that I changed the turn signal lamp assembly too.

surprised you went back to the original door handle. Seems like a golf ball would keep gvwr down? ;)

Great build!

Thanx!
Yeah and I also added soundproofing/"dynamat" to the door while I had it gutted. What a miscalculation, I should have stripped it instead so I could bring more stuff!

Improved the seal between truckbed and camper with a new glue-on kind. Much easier compared to last time in sub zero temperatures.
