Nice Rack!

Hey, I was talking about the Ezi-Awn K9 roof rack... (or was I?)

I finally took some cruiser porn of the roof rack, loaded with my canoe for an upcoming Maine vacation. I really appreciate the infinite variety of mounting options on this rack. You can pretty much put anything anywhere on both the upper and lower surfaces (meaning you can mount something flat underneath it).

Given my need to haul a canoe around for fishing, and my current solo-traveler status, I was looking online for a manageable canoe carrier to spare the K9 rack excessive indignity while loading and unloading. I found SweetCanoeStuff.com, a guy in Colorado who literally wrote the book on high country primitive 4x4 camping/flyfishing in remote Colorado. This design allows one person to tip a canoe onto the rear rack, which swivels so you can walk the canoe around to hoist it onto the front rack. Clever idea, as it has always been a pain loading a canoe by myself. I had to drill two extra holes in each bracket to mate up the bolt channels on the K9, but that was straightforward. The cross-members are easily removable without unbolting the mounting plate, so you don't need to incur the wind noise and drag if you aren't lugging the canoe. I'll let you know how it works out after some time in the real world.
