Looking for a Astro Tiger Provans XL that needs restoring.
Last edited by Astro; 03-17-2008 at 08:52 AM. Reason: inverted LX for the correct XL letters
As in a Chevy Astro mini-van that has been converted?
Don't believe I've ever seen those discussed on this site.

Here's one in Denver, asking $5900

Wow, thats pretty cool, nice size.
This thread is about how snobby and elitist ExPo has become, not about EE's forum. Please stay on topic while bashing this forum on this forum.
Tiger motor homes where built by Provans used Astro's as a platform from the early 1985's till GM stopped building the Astro's.The GT's where pop-up versions and the XL versions are hard tops. With the 4.3 V6 they are know for 16 mpg which is generally unheard of in motor homes. The ref listing is now at $16,500 and out of range for me.I am looking for a LX one in any condition that needs restoring.Gary

There's an MSN Group for those http://groups.msn.com/TigerMotorhome...ffforsale.msnw if you don't find what you're looking for in their classifieds (usually in good condition, on the pricey side), probably one of the goup members could steer you toward one they know of that needs TLC.
My parents owned a 2wd pop up version, see my post #5 here http://expeditionportal.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=10162 plus later in that thread we were kicking around the mods for AWD Astro vans. Another really helpful thread on modding AWD Astros is here, if you want to get into that: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=12681

Yep,"T Low" is a member too of the web site Astrosafarivans.com that I am apart of.Been with them over a yr 1/2.You can do lots with the Astro vans and I would think the same holds true for the XL MH's.Hehe-one member lifted his 5 1/2" and swaped in a ram jet BBC 502 running AWD.Originally Posted by 77blazerchalet

Great, nothing beats having an extensive network. l've bookmarked the astrosafarivans.org forums, thanks. Much as I like my Chalet, my ultimate goal is to have the perfect offroad camper to suit my tastes, and perhaps an Astro 4x4 with a Westfalia-inspired custom roof is a way to go to accomplish what I want for size & maneuverability - looks like a guy in Germany did that to his Land Cruiser here http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...&hl=en&ie=UTF8Originally Posted by Astro

Astro,
If you are still looking, I just saw one advertised in the Phoenix area.
I was passing through NM, and spotted it when thumbing through the RV Trader for NM and AZ.
I didn't buy the mag because I assumed I could search for it online. Unfortunately, when I searched RV Trader online for Tiger, nothing showed up.
If you are still looking for one, maybe someone in the NM or AZ areas could get the contact # for you.
