Name of Perforated Square Structural Tubing?

I've seen a few threads where folks are using a square section, perforated metal tubing to build frames for platforms and the like. It has special corner pieces and snaps together.

I cannot recall the brand names (seem to recall there are two?). Also recall short pieces are sold on ebay.

I could swear I had suppliers bookmarked, but no luck.

No luck with search here.

Not knowing what something is called really puts the brakes on a web search.

Help.

Thanks

Jim

Unistrut?

Steve

Unistrut is what keeps coming to my mind but is not the item. Unistrut is more of a 'U' channel. It is attached to 'I' beams and the like then pipe and conduit are attached to the Unistrut.

The stuff I'm looking for is intended to be used to build structural frames and goes together like tinker toys.

Thanks

Jim

80/20 channel? They have a line of perforated square tubing. http://www.8020.net

Unistrut actually does have a line of perforated square tubing as well. It's designed for nested tubing applications, where you can use a lynch pin (or similar) to lock two nested tubes together.

Jim,

We have some stuff over here called QubeLok, but it's not perforated?

It's basically 25mm aluminium box, with a variety of special plastic corner pieces that you wack together. Some people claim the plastic corner pieces don't hold up to corrugations very well, others claim to have been using them for years with no downsides.

I'd be interested to see how the system you're thinking of compares to this, when you eventually remember what it was :D

Cheers,
Matto :)

That 80/20 stuff looks great but that website doesn't make it easy to understand their various product lines, let alone ordering items.

80/20 does have an app for that. Almost as confusing as the website. The perforated tube they sell is holey tube. From what i have read they recommend calling a local supplier for their products.

Yeah, I downloaded the app. Its basically just their PDF. Luckily they seem to have a lot of their products listed on Amazon.

Ryan

80/20 is what I was thinking of.

Many thanks.

The material called 80/20 in the post above is what I had in mind. This Qubelok appears to have possibilities as well.

Thanks

Are you talking about the material used for sign posts? Check McMaster-Carr, they have most everything!
