Newbie needs advice on M101A2 for family expedition trailer.

Everyone, I'm new to posting, but I've been watching for a while. I have come across an M101A2 that was cleaned up, painted, bedlined, has an aluminum lid and LED lights, and a RTT. My concern is weight and towability for a suburban and 12 wrangler unlimited. The dry weight is 1500 which seems like a lot compared to some of the smaller military style trailers. However, I've seen many of the expedition trailers with a dry weight of that high and more.

Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this type of setup? I've seen many posts about the M101 line of trailers but there are so many variations it is dizzying. Should I go for this restored M101A2?

Lots of M101a1,2,3 builds in the trailer forum.
I love mine and It has gotten me and the family out more.
My TV is a 2500HD CC so it does not mind the added weight.

I tow my M101a2 with a 2007 JKU with no problems. My trailer has a camper shell and weighs about 1800#.

Good choice (I have 2 now...).

Do it. I doubt you'd lose money on the deal in the long run. ********** things are bombproof & there's nothing close currently being made for anything less than ~$10000.

If you're keeping the axels & brakes stock, look for spares, NOW (cables, handles, etc) I'm noticing they're not as commonly found as the 1100s become more prevalent.
