Been lurking here for a bit and now in the market to get a truck. I am leaning towards the Taco TRD Pro. Primarily because my wrench turning days are behind me and I want something that is plug and play.
I spec'd out a FJ with the TRD options, wheels, exhaust, air cleaner, shocks, etc. and the price comes out to about the same as the Taco TRD Pro.
This truck will see a lot of pavement miles since the areas I will be exploring are a good drive from where I live. I will most likely be pulling an adventure trailer similar the the Overland Chaser.
My question is this for those of you that have lived with both, is the FJ too buzy for extended pavement travel? I am guessing the Taco will fair better on the pavement and the FJ is more at home off the pavement.
Yes I will test drive both trucks but sometimes a vehicles character doesn't surface until you have lived with it for a bit so I am seeking advice here to aid in my decision.
I am not getting the truck for rock crawling, its for exploring and road trips. Its possible this truck will be my daily driver although I may hold onto the sTi. The sTi is rather buzy on long trips. This is why I mention this. I had an Audi A3 and although the sTi is more competent, the Audi could drive itself for hours on end. You have to constantly babysit the sTi compared to the Audi.
