How could gnats get into fridge with lid shut

I bought a new Dometic 35 and plugged it up AC when I got home in my shop. The next morning I opened it and there were approx 30 various gnats and a small moth in the bottom. So, how could this happen if it's sealed? It's holding temp and it hasn't happened again. I've also checked, the inside light turns off when the the lid is shut.

Maybe the lid wasn't completely closed. There have been a couple of times that we thought ours was closed but realized the back didn't snap down all the way, it's something we have to really watch for now.

They were only attracted to the edge of the lid, near the seal. They sensed the temperature difference, even if even so slightly, then, when you opened the lid, the negative pressure sucked them in instantaneously. It appered they had been inside all the while. Simple physics.

Something like that. :D
