I wanted to start a thread for cool DIY projects:

I will start with a homemade video slider:
I already had the wood and a small Bogen tripod head I will use
I went to the local box hardware store and got the rest for less than $20
1.25 inch PVC, 5 foot 3/4 inch conduit, conduit hangers, 1/4x20 T nuts and felt dots
I went just over 3 feet since I want to be able to hike with the slider. I used a solid base so I could mount a T Nut in the middle for the tripod and each end for monopods to balance the slider or another tripod at each end. (Right now I own 4 monopods and 1 tripod) Rather than glue the PVC to the base I used small wood screws into the base plate, but I may change that to T Nuts and screws for protection. Other all I am happy and I didn't take my time building it, if (when) I do a version 2.0, I will take more time and find something other than pine... birch? But the box store didn't have anything I wanted tonight.
