adjust a mount roof rack

Haven't used these specifically. Used a similar false raingutter bracket from Thule years ago to put a rack system on a Leer topper and those worked great and I had no issue with them supporting the rack and gear. You are putting holes in the vehicle's sheetmetal so they are pretty permanent and the key, I would think, would be to locate them in an area where the anticipated load on the rack could be supported by the area where the brackets are mounted. Getting an proper seal would also be critical. Maybe someone else will chime in here also.

Thanks for the imput, Ill add actual information that might get the ball rolling. ..

I'd like to roof rack my truck, basically to hold front and rear light bars. Mostly the rear for cargo and trailers. The rack itself will be basically a flat platform.

Option one, use smittybuilt adjust a mounts
Option two, yakima number 7 pads for a bare roof and buy a tower/bar system second hand
Option 3, handling the kit/brackets myself.

Thinking I'll use a marine type plug for light bar wiring so I cab just unplug to fix replace or swap lights without undoing everything, as well as run lights to a remote 2 channel controller.

What does everyone think......
