Mobile Base Camp Family Camper

Okay I debated posting on here. This build is a little bit different than what everyone is doing. But I have a large family five in all. So I wanted to build a hard side teardrop style trailer that can handle rough fire roads. But still have it small and light enough to get around. So what I have built is a teardrop style it's a bit oversized and the roof lifts up to expose a queen bunkbed on top of queen bed for my wife and I. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411251889.971034.jpg

Today was a big milestone for me, I've been stressing on how to make the lift for the roof. After some good estimates and some to scale drawings it turned out awesome and I couldn't be happier.

Wow, you've got some mad fabrication skills! Would it be ok if I asked you what your final cost estimate is?

Basically! It's 6-4" wide 13'-6" long and 5'-8" high. I tried to keep it as small as possible for 5 people to sleep in. Thanks for the complement!

Can't say enough about it. Great work and fantastic idea. Are you working out of your head or did you draw up plans? Is the inside just for sleeping, ala a traditional teardrop, or is it big enough for seating, etc?

Nice work.

The rear of the trailer will have a full pull out kitchen, I've made room for a ARB fridge hot water and a stove. When the roof is up the inside will have two queen size beds and a couch upfront that will double as a bunkbed. With plenty of space for seating for bad weather.

I've spent many of nights and days daydreaming on how to make this perfect for my family that has been most of the fun!

great looking concept. I too would like to build something like this (a tiny bit smaller) so do a good job and work out all the issues for us who will follow.

Good luck...
