1983 4x4 Toyota Chinook for sale

Location: Portland, OR

Price: $7500 (reasonable offers considered).

Ready for camping, hunting, skiing and more! This is a very rare, originally manufactured, four-wheel drive Chinook (built by General RV Industries in San Bernardino, CA) – not a rebuild!

$7500. National bank cashier's check required for payment. Title will not be transferred until cashier's check is cleared.

Odometer reads 85,222 today, but Carfax report shows mileage inconsistency. When we purchased the vehicle in 2004, the odometer read around 10,000 miles. We had a new engine installed when the odometer read 72,735.

12,487 miles on four-year-old rebuilt 22-R engine.

Runs great, recently re-registered months ago with clean Multnomah County (Portland, OR) emissions test.

  • Engine installed in 2010.
  • New 5-speed transmission installed in 2010.
  • New shocks in 2013.
  • New front brakes in 2013.

Truck in fair/good condition. Camper in fair condition - very clean with original carpet and camper components.

Truck features:
  • Four wheel drive
  • Air conditioning
  • Heater
  • Power steering
  • Large radiator
  • Weber carburetor
  • Firestone rear airbag suspension (can be increased from 10-100 psi to improve ride when loaded)
  • 8 disk CD changer, cassette, and radio with remote control
  • Pass through camper; cab to camper is all one unit

Camper features (all working):
  • 2 burner propane stove
  • Forced air wall heater – runs on propane, thermostat controlled
  • Sink with electric pump
  • Three way Dometic refrigerator – runs on battery, shore power, or propane
  • Shore power with fuse box
  • Owner-built fold out bed. Sleeps two or converts to couch.
  • Two closets
  • Intact fiberglass – no cracks

Known issues:
  • Some rust in undercarriage, but not major.
  • Some water damage on interior camper panel due to window left open (see photos).
  • Some small holes in pop-top canvas (it still has original canvas).
  • Past water damage in floor of back closets. Was repaired and sealed.
  • Some rust on cross bars for pop-top (see photos).
  • Flood light wiring is disconnected, but can be repaired.
  • It's 30 years old.

This is a very unique, clean, vehicle. We've loved it for the last 10 years, but we live in a city now, and don't have the chance to use it very much. It's ready for it's next adventure!

Thanks, IVrunner!

The camper is riveted to the truck cab, then sealed with caulking and sealing tape. We did not attach the camper to the cab. It was manufactured like this in 1983. It's great to have the big pass-through!!!

Yes, we have a deposit on the camper, and the new owner is picking it up in two weeks. If the sale does not go through, I'll update this forum.

New adventures ahead!
