Exploring central Nevada in a our Defender 130

We took our Defender 130 out for a two day adventure through Central Nevada, the once thriving ghost towns around Tonopah. We visited the towns of Manhattan and Belomont, once mid-sized towns. Manhattan (38°32′20″N 117°04′30″W) was established in 1905 and Belmont (38°35′33″N 116°52′16″W) had its beginnings in 1865. Getting there is through paved roads, with some very easy graded dirt trail in the mix. There are many structures still (somewhat) standing. The photos you see here are a mix of both places, the cement bank vault is in Manhattan and the brick bank building and courthouse you see is in Belmont. Enjoy the pictures!

thanks for images - I also drove through there a few weeks ago. those are really interesting towns!

We agree. Our next trip will be the true ghost towns around Pioche, like Delamar, Helene and Caliente; probably in early November.
