Quigley - Spare tire question

Our van came without a spare underneath. There appears to be a box relocated into that area. (not sure what it is). I can still load a spare under there but it will rest against the box and 2 tabs and hang a bit lower than stock.

Not sure if it's a good idea to put a spare under the vehicle.

Thoughts/ experience ?

What is the big deal on that?
If its lower YOU need to answer the question if yor rig can get stuck offroad on that. Are you going offroad, how much space will be left?
