Looking to buy one and leave it at my vacation place in Utah. Anyone here own one? Experiences, good and bad? Alot of them have high miles, but the big rv owners used them as toads.

I have one great rig but beware mile shown on odometer are miles driven,tracker/vitara models don't add miles when towed, I think only samurais add miles. the 2.0 goes well over 200,000 miles but timing chains can be an issue. pre 99's are different motors and have timing beltsIMG_20140411_110952480_HDR[1].jpg

I've had 9 of them over the years, The number 8 as a v-6 LT model and I had timing chain issues at just 70k. It was a 2000 and the chain tensioner was stated in a GM release to be faulty from the get go on the 2000 and 2001 V-6's. Than here I am with number 9 a lovely 2002 with yet again the same issues, I have now found another GM notice that the issue is through the 2002 models also.

Over all they're a great small very capable 4x4 that's fun to drive and tough full frame design. If you go to Rock Auto you'll see the timing kit for around $225 and I paid approx $400 for the install. The 4 banger is a little under powered but a great engine, they're harder to find, the V-6 is smooth running and a strong runner, I had one with just over 180k in a 2003 model great runner.

Cost is a factor and they have been cheap to purchase, this one was just $1,000 off Craigslist with just 70k on the clock, one owner but 61 that right 61 sticker on the auto, it cleaned up great and is now a great driver.

Good cheap 4x4!
