I'm trying to do one of these numbers on my new Ram 1500 that I had a shell put on. I made the mistake of not telling the shell dealer to install my tracks a little closer together, so from the center slot/groove of each track, it's 47".
Has anyone calculated, or is anyone able to calculate, how far/wide you can slide out the mounting brackets before the rack starts to curve upwards? I really hate the idea of getting cross bars and feet, thus adding several inches to the overall height, and I'm unfortunately incapable of welding. I know I'm already pushing it since the manufacturer states the rack is 48" wide...
Thanks much for any ideas, I'm having trouble finding a rack dealer locally that actually has them in stock or on display for my own measuring.
