ABS\Brake light

Hey all
I have a 1997 Econoline. The ABS light keeps coming on randomly as well as the e brake light on the dash board. Any ideas? Fixes? Reasons?

Just to be sure, ABS light or airbag light? Just wondering if you got them mixed up because the airbag lights come on on a lot of vans due to the plugs on the seats, especially if you have swivel seats they get yanked around a lot.

Our Durango ABS light came on randomly. It came on because of sensor errors. Fixed it by replacing ABS sensors on front wheels and rear axle.

Have read that ABS Ford brain boxes sometimes have issues with cold solder joints... Guy had his fixed quite cheaply, and repairs came with a warranty.

If your fluid is not low, do you have cruise control and if so does it fail when this light is on? Check your master cylinder for a pressure switch. It might be coming right off the master or it might be inline somewhere. These things have/had a habit of doing a slow failure where they would leak internally and randomly short out causing ABS lights, brake lights, CC failures and what-not until complete failure. I've had the same failure on 3 different Fords from a '92 up to 2001, a Superduty P/U, an Excursion, and an E350. There are various Ford TSBs out there addressing the issue. Cheap easy fix each time.
