Quick basket question

My brother gave me his old curt roof basket and I am trying to scheme up a way to get it mounted on my camper top tonight. I'm on a tight budget so I can't really order cross bars or tracks. I was thinking some ubolts through the top with large washers and grommets to keep water out and disperse weight? Any ideas?
Thanks

You'll want a gap between the basket and the roof, to prevent chaffing, so whatever method you go with, use a spacer. 1/2 inch should be enough. Also, if you want it to the water tight, use fender washers with some kind of grommet and water sealant. Also, unless your cap is reinforced, you'll want to place the spacers and mounting points as close to the edge of the cap as you can. That is strongest part of the fiber glass cap.

I used u-bolts with my yakima. It works great. Use some caulk- it'll leak if you don't. I've put this rack on two different trucks. Once I used squares cut from a bed mat to give space and cushion. This time I used hockey pucks. It works great.
