Interior Storage Solution

Hi everybody,
I'd like to share my project about a closet to fit rear end of a hardtop defender 110.
Hopefully it would be helpful for anybody who is preparing his vehicle for expedition.
I'm the second owner of my vehicle. Ex-owner has used her for a tour around the world in the past.
And so many preparations have been done already. Drawer boxes, special boxes etc but all of them were made from wood.
Although i like wood as a material but i think that it doesn't stick to the spirit of land rover.
So aluminum is chosen as material. I made the plans accordingly.
First of all, i took out all the boxes.

And side trims are removed.

Then measurements of panels taken from inside. According to these measurements a 3d model has been created to work on for further stages.

According to me, hinged doors are headaches especially at limited areas that every cm3 matters.
So shutters will be used instead. And special U shaped rails to guide them.

Later on, drawings plotted on cupboards are used to see whether side panels of the closet will fit or not.
Mistakes noticed as usual and been corrected. After few trials, measurements are fixed and sent to an autocad file.

Meanwhile 1.000x2.000x2,5mm 3 plates have been purchased from a supplier. Plates are not chosen as checkered by purpose.
Two of the plate has been transfered to a workshop equipped with laser cutting and press brake machines.
The result of laser cutting was wonderful. From the other plate, shelves and other necessary parts were cut and bent.

To fix side panels to the body, rails and shelves to the side panels, pop up rivets are used.

With 3 shelves for each side closet, sufficient storage volume is gained. At one side, two of the shelves are not fixed by purpose.
They can slide upwards and long equipments like camping chairs and tables could fit there.

Very creative, and you probably saved quite a bit of weight with that design! Well done! Keep us updated on your buildout please!

Very cool and looks great. Are you setting this up so you can sleep in the back of the 110?

That gets me thinking about something like this for my 110 3 door.

Thanks Mark,
If i'm not wrong, all aluminum material used weighs 15-18kg. And i'm not sure about the weight of a wooden closet with same volume.

Update;
New project: Foldable Rear Door Table
Same aluminum plate left from the closet project will be used as material.
Design is almost finished, only small details left.
Instead of hanging cords, plate wings will be used. Those two wings will be carrying the table plate while holding the shelf and will be like wind shield during cooking.
Metal type paper clips (orange parts) will be used to hold the system together. Same clips could be used when it is folded.
Table dimensions are 400x640mm
Folded dimensions are 280x640x20mm

Update;
Foldable rear door table project is finished.
Photos are taken step by step. Hope it would be helpful for anybody.

Notes:
1. If the plates are cut to dimensions correctly, to assemble the table itself is no problem by one person. Some grinding job for the edges is unavoidable.
2. To fit the assembly on the door card by pop rivets, i've used ribbons on the other side. But i guess that won't be enough to carry the load, so additional screws through the door would help.
3. To fit the assembly better ask a friend for help.
4. For the wings i've considered paper clips earlier but since i've bunch of cable ties, it would be the easiest way to fix table, wings and shelf.
5. To avoid noise, some plastic packing layers could be left while folding it.

Continue of the photos after installation.

Extension part of the table is supported by a copper tube which have been changed to "C" form buy cutting through the length.
It is temporary solution.
