To add to that point, when I was younger I thought a first gen dodge truck was the absolutely ugliest thing ever made. Many moons later and now I think they are killer. There is an beautiful old dodge in a cialis commercial that makes me want ED....almost. So now I even like dodge square bodies.
Child of the 70's equals loving 80's trucks I guess .

I agree- on nearly every point. Thanks for the compliment too. I'm really lucky that I don't have a favorite brand. I've owned a couple of everything I guess. I even had an 85' 3/4 ton burb- but it was a rust bucket. Man I loved that thing. I grew up around ton Chevys with big blocks and 4spds. Today- as long as it has a straight axel, squarish body lines, and very little electronics, it'll get my motor going well- I don't care witch of the big three made it. I don't even care if it's gas or diesel. In the eighties I thought they were ugly- today they are what I prefer. Go figure. I gotta say though, I'm off road- a LOT. I've really gotten good service from the OBS fords. I'm not saying better than the other two....but I just don't seem to do much to em' other than drive and change the oil. They are tuff if nothing else. My wife's gmc pickup is tuff too- she runs the "Farmer 500" everywhere she goes. I don't work on it much either. I guess a person should just drive what they like, huh.

I think i saw my build as well, thanks for that. Mines not a very old truck but were slowly making it older with the kingpin axle and now a manual transmission and t-case, eventually a 12v cummins and itll be old school meets new school. Modern creature comforts with old reliable (I hope) tech.

I'm not a loyal person brand wise, i have tended to have had more GM than ford and never had the opportunity to try a dodge or foreign truck, still young though and i'm sure i'll get my chance. I like certain aspects of all manufactures with respect to engines, frames, axles, etc...

I think everyone who has commented here as well as many others have very sweet builds, some more involved than others, but what my favorite part is, is to look through them all and discover how everyone puts their trucks together, what components they use and the amount of creativity on this forum among others is absolutely insane, its fun to view them all!

Definitely second the thoughts about all the creativity on this site. I look at each build and take away at least some nugget for my truck. Lot of rides with a lot more time, money, skill, or inclination than I necessarily have but appreciated none the less. It is great motivation for sure. Happy new years to all. I hope everyone had a year they appreciate and has one worth looking forward to.

Also, unofficially, pretty sure Larry is winning the contest. Seems like 1 or both of his rigs has made most everyone's top 5.

Wow, thanks for the honorable mention as well guys! There are a lot of great builds and rigs on Expo Portal and I wouldn't have figured either of my old rigs were that popular amongst the rest.

Just saw this and thanks.

My favorites are...

Pappawheely. Winner.

Rube Bonnet. Well, I suck at fab and apparently I'm not very creative either.

Coastal616. I want that stance on my truck. Detroit... are you kidding me? Win.

Larry. Love what he's done with that truck.

Forget the guys handle but he took a Westphalia camper top and put it on an old Suburban and swivel seats. Different.

Also the guy with the blue 70-72 Suburban. I think it might be OnelegLance. He had a build thread and took his family all over in it. Just too cool.

Lots of great builds around here. Mine's kind of a heap compared to most.
