I am selling my 2007 VW Touareg.
The 2007 is the last year of the T-1 version. (facia changed in 2008) Any stories of problems or issues occurred on earlier models 2004-5-6 were ironed out by 2007. V-10 was VERY cool, but VERY expensive to maintain. V-8 is a great motor...but had timing chain issues. The original V-6 was a 3.2 but was bumped up to a 3.6 in 2007. Originally designed to be a diesel, it is a bombproof lump of iron. Air Suspension was offered and though it is less problematic than the RR variety, it was still an expensive option and pray it continued to work properly. The steel suspension is plenty adequate for clearance.
Cost of ownership has been no more than my suburban. It continues to be a reliable and stalwart vehicle and it runs as smooth and tight as the day I bought it.
Currently has 112,000.
No leaks, drips, or weeps.
3.6 Liter Gas Motor is bombproof, powerful. Transmission shifts flawlessly.
MPG 21 at sea level and 17 to 18 in the rockies.
I have slightly oversized AT tires mounted up and they hum a bit down the highway, but don't effect much else.
Full Time AWD during every day driving. 4WD Low Range Selector for Off road crawling and climbing. Locking Center Diff. Selector. when things get tricky.
28 Gallon Fuel Tank Typically 500 miles to tank.
Factory 2" receiver hitch
Front and Rear recovery points
Hill Descent Control
120 amp Converter
Much More....
Always serviced at or before mileage deadlines. Never flogged or abused.
As mileage is getting up there, it will need a catalytic converter, eventually. Otherwise, a solid truck and easy to own. Also: There is online support and a great forum/community www.clubtouareg.com.
