2012+ JK Alternator Performance Curve?

Capt Jon

Observer
Good morning all,

I am trying to find information on the performance curve (amps v. engine rpm) for the stock 160 amp alternators on the pentastar JK's.

My google **** is not strong today, and I can't find anything. Does anybody have a source for this?

Thanks,

Jon

It's 80 amps off idle for the JKs with the 3.6.
I've been told by car audio guys that an alternator could produce 30-40% of its max at idle (excluding those meant for old carbureted engines) and the industry standard is to test them at 2000rmp.
Maybe the 30-40% doesn't jive perfectly, but when in doubt low ball it, and upgrade cables, because if you need that much juice you could melt wires.

If you need more then stock, then
