Winch choices for truck...

I currently have a "Tuff Stuff" 12.500lbs winch on my 2nd Gen. Tundra. I have had it for 4 years on 2 different large vehicles. I am taking a trip out west this summer and want to pull it off the truck and clean it up really well, replace/ check all the wiring and remove the cable and go to synthetic rope for weight.

BUT, a good kayaking friend has a Warn 10K that looks to be an industrial model he bought but it is too big for his truck. It seems really beefy. It is the bottom one in the pic, the more dirty one.

I realize Warn is top notch, but is this winch better than the 12.5 I already have? Or should I just service what I have and replace worn parts with quality parts and keep with what I have. My friend is asking 300 for the winch. It does work, He and I tested it out the other day and the motor pulled in and out just fine.

dont be caught up in the name, looks like its seen better days

I'd keep the 12K & possibly invest in synthetic rope/cable

just my $0.02
