Do i have "counterfeit" Scepter water cans?

I picked up a "Scepter" water can today new for $24. It looks great. But what i looked it over i noticed that it does not say Scepter on it. It says "Crocker LTD" on it where it should say Scepter. Also says Three Rivers MI. Other than that it looks right. Does anyone know anything about these cans?

I wonder if they too manufacture their products for the military

there should be an "NSN" #(s) on there somewhere ?

maybe thats why they look identical, just guessing, seen it before

Crocker built both MWC's and MFC's for military contracts. The design was a spec'd so really it isn't a Scepter proprietary so much as a Scepter commonplace.

You need to post an image or something. As others have said, Scepter produced and sold cans to a mil-spec, but others did as well.

I will try to get a picture up. Right now i have it full of water turned upside down. See if it leaks. I guess that is all that really matters.

'Scepter' gets used like 'Kleenex' / 'Xerox'. Lot of folks think 'Scepter' is the original design, aren't aware it was made to a military MFC / MWC specification. Cans from other vendors made to the same spec are essentially functionally identical. Like LCI, amongst other brands / makers.

Yep that what i have. My mom was driving past a new store in Alabama that has them. I had her swing in and pick one up. For $25 i figure i would give it a try.

I have a couple fuel cans. I had a tennent that was a mechanic in the Marine Corp, he left them behind when he moved out. The say US Government Property and below that it says Scepter made in Canada.
