Default M416 Lunette...how long should it be?

Can someone give me their opinions on how long the Lunette should be lengthened. What is a standard distance ..if there such a thing. I have a welder doing it tomorrow and I really dont know how much longer it should be? I'll be towing it behind a Landcruiser and I like to see it behind my truck...currently, I can't see it at all when I turn. Any ideas how much I should add?

At the minimum, you should lengthen the tongue enough to be able to completely jackknife the truck/trailer and not hit the bumper/body.

Old thread, but perhaps better than starting a new one. I too am interested in lengthening the lunette on my m416.

Does anyone sell them? Or do I need to have my existing lunette extended somehow?

How do you know what the right length is and at what point does the extra length became a weak point?

I'm looking to get a little more tongue length on my trailer when hauling my kayaks so I don't have to worry about them hitting the tow vehicle.

    Thx.
