Well, I broke it... again

We spent the night at Cathedral Point UT, overlooking Canyonlands. Did okay on the way in (there are a bunch of rock ledges to negotiate) but on the way out misjudged the way the body was going to shift and ended up busting out a window on the camper...

Other than this operator-induced issue, the truck has been performing really well and we've been having a great time. We are now in Grand Junction for a few days, where I'm hoping to have some time to do a more solid temporary repair that will get us home (we bought a sheet of Lexan at Home Depot - in the future I'm going to carry some under the mattress.)

It's a nice day out today so I'm going to disassemble the window and pull out the frame. As Aussie said, tree branches find windows - I need to be better prepared to patch them if it happens in the future. Under the mattress will be a perfect place to store some emergency repair sheets of plastic - my trail repair was 2 corrugated plastic signs and foil tape. For a complete bodge job it has held up pretty well, but I still have a lot of miles to do before I'll be able to do the real replacement.

A spotter would have helped, I'm not sure about using the maxtrax - I haven't used them for bridging because I'm not sure how well they would handle my weight.

I was overconfident because I was on the way out - returning down a trail I had already come up once.

Using your IReach page, I've been following along. Looks like you've been to some remote places with some grand views.

Probably cheaper to replace than a windshield...sigh. I need to drill mine out to prevent a traveler crack from a rock ding, on the way out to OE.
