Excelsior!
from my latest blog report at: http://suntothenorth.blogspot.com/2015/06/expedition-trailer-in-panamint-valley.html
"Sometimes you can only pass through an interesting area and vow to some day undertake that oft-promised yet elusive return journey. After so many times transiting the paved road through Panamint Valley for other adventures the time came to keep the promise and return to explore. This trip was planned to focus on a particular canyon and enjoy both the history and natural beauty it offered."
Heading off the pavement for the adventure
A quiet camp spot in a remote canyon
Mining tramway tower with a concrete-less base made of dry stacked rocks
Another tower's aging wood bolted together to form a simple support for the tramway cables
Old machinery
Old donkey trails made of stacked rock buttresses and tamped earth.
Packed up and reluctantly ready to go home :smiley_drive:
