Renogy vs Grape Solar

The pic in #20 isn't mine, just a neat way of mounting flexible panels that I came across.

Mine are LG Neon panels mounted ~120mm off the roof :

I just picked up the Grape Solar flex 100W panel. Stuck it to the top of my cap with some 3M double sided tape. Connected it to a dual battery setup through a Morning Star ProStar 15. Kept our fridge cold and charged phones etc through several days of camping in 90F heat. Love it.

I have two GS100 Grape panels installed on my 4 Wheel Camper. I made a lightweight aluminum frame and attached them to the Yakima tracks. I did a lot of research before mounting them and every person I spoke with recommended rigid over gluing flexible panels to the roof. The panels are more efficient with air passing below and can easily be removed. There are a bunch of folks over Wander the West now that are having to remove glued Renogy panels that are defective.

I just got back from a 2 month 8000+ mile trip and never plugged the truck in once. For half that time, daytime temps exceeded 100 degrees and the panels performed flawlessly keeping my fridge, lights and devices running. Given the low profile, it had 0 impact on gas mileage compared with other trips.

OK, my panels must be of an older less efficient variety. I have my roof filled with 4 large panels and a paltry 600w.
