Wow! My first vehicle I ever owned was an S10 and have been thinking of this very idea!

Excellent skills. Looking clean and great. Subbed....

More progress on the lift motors. I am basically building home made linear actuators. These Bodine gear motors put out 300 in/lbs at 42rpm so that is way more torque then needed for this application but I got a great deal on the motors on Ebay. They are new and known to be bullet proof. They take 1:50 to extend 16" which is what is needed to fully lift the roof. I welded some U joints to the keyed shaft coupler on the motor to allow the lift tubes to swing in an arc as they lift. I used 3/4" acme thread and nuts welded into the upper tube. There are two nuts in each tube spaced 5" apart to give the setup more rigidity and bearing surface on the threads. After talking to Bodine I will be adding a bearing in between the output shaft and the U joint to take the axial load. All that the gear motors have for axial load is thrust washers which I feel would survive with the limited weight and time in use but I don't want to risk it.

Wow!

The title of this thread really buries the lede. This is a fantastic custom pop-up system. Can't wait to see more.
