Not unless someone activates it, which might cause other issues (like they assume YOU did, but I also assume you can deactivate with SPOT's service. Hope they let you use it with a new SPOT). No two-way communication, unlike a phone or InReach.

SPOT found! And backpack and clothes....in the garage thrown in a corner. Having housemates can suck sometimes.

I had a SPOT Gen 2 stolen from my car. So I contacted the Findmespot Web site by email and had the rest of my contract (5 months) transferred to a new Gen 3 unit. All information you need is in their FAQ section on the site. Just sucks I had to buy a new unit.
