Serious question. Wood fired heat, hot water, energy?

So let's hear it. From the obvious to maybe not so obvious, lets hear the pros and cons. Where is its place in an overland camper. Sorry ahead of time if this is a beat subject.

A small "forced draft" (small 12v fan driven combustion) type stove might be worth considering - similar to a "rocket stove" - they can heat up water fast then shut off with the water then radiating its heat out for a while or for a shower etc. Still fussy and more work then a propane heater...

Other issue is fuel source and storage. In some places the available fuel will be too wet to use and bringing it along isn't a great option either - too much space /weight. Hard to beat liquid fuels like diesel, gas or propane.

Aside from storage some wilderness areas have regulations against bringing in firewood due to invasive insects possibly being transported along with it.

Yeah I never transport firewood for that reason. Even when there is no quarantine. Pretty much everywhere I plan on going with this rig will have firewood available in the woods. If not, like maybe some desert situations, no fire.
