Brutus - 2016 Tundra TRD Pro

Well, the only thing done this week to the truck was get the insurance taken care of, front windows tinted to match the rears, and got my Weathertech mats in. Other than that, I've put almost 500 miles on it and have greatly enjoyed every one :) I've got a couple of quotes for rock sliders, but those are going to be put on hold for a couple of months as we need to get the exterior of our house painted $$$ money comes and goes at the blink of an eye these days.

Heading south to my Dad's this weekend to use his sandblaster. I'll be blasting the tub of my 1966 M416 trailer tub and spraying a coat of epoxy. This is the really beast that i'm ready to get going.

My first gen tundra's range would really be awesome with that much fuel. My 26.5 gal gets me 400 miles. Guess that's the price for the power of a 5.7

Well, it's been awhile since I updated this thread. I've had the truck for 9 months now and i've put over 12,000 miles on it. Been on a few trips throughout the midwest and southern states. Been through the Hoosier National Forest a dozen or so times, Daniel Boone National forest, Land between the Lakes, ran the Tennessee Dirt Devil, and went fly fishing in Pennsylvania. I've had a lot of fun adventures so far.

I've yet to do many mods to the truck. We just introduced our first child into the mix, so time and money really has played a part in that. Luckily I have an amazing wife and for my recently celebrated 30th birthday, she told me to go get new tires for the truck.

I went with Cooper STT Pros in 295/70R18 after having many conversations with my group.

I decided to see what my ground clearance was wit the new tires on. I measured from the lowest point on my front skid plate to the ground and got 12.25". Not too shabby for an off the floor stock truck.

I think this tire setup really makes the truck finally look like it should, stout and beefy. The stock Michelin LTX A/T2 were a great all season tire, amazing in the snow, and super smooth on the road. I was actually surprised how well they got me through the midwest mud as well. But it was time for something new. A 32" tire just looks odd in the large wheel wells of these newer Tundras. I sold the Michelins for $500 and picked up the new set of Coopers for $1250. I still need to get a full size spare, but need to figure out what to do with it. The new size won't fit in stock location and I don't want a $300 tire sitting in the bed of my truck unprotected.

The one thing that I don't like about this tire setup is how close they are to the UCA. The STT Pros are a rather nobbie tire and my stock TRD Pro rims have a +60 offset. They clear, but are close enough for discomfort. I really like my stock wheel setup, so what i'm going to try to do is run spacers. I'm not a big fan of this idea, but the tires have been bought and i'd prefer to stick to my stock wheels.

Went to visit family camping for the holiday weekend. Found a lot of 1st gen Tundras at the campground. There were four of them camping around my parents alone. I decided to park next to one on the way out of the park for a quick snapshot.

Even though I know this new gen isn't dimensionally that much larger (5" wider) than a 1st gen, the sheet metal sure makes them look it.

Great truck. I've got a 16 trd pro as well. I'm keeping stock trd wheels as well. Thinking spacers as well? How did these work for you?

The spacers worked well @mlmeans. Everything cleared just fine without them, but I get into enough offroad situations that I didn't want to take a chance with the knobby STT Pros coming into contact with the UCA. Before I couldn't get a finger through, not I can get my entire hand through.

Badlands ORP

Finally got the Cooper STT Pros out to play this past weekend at the Badlands ORP in Attica, IN. We are hitting up the White Rim Trial and Moab up in April, so I figured it was time to get some offroad time in. I was running at 35psi on the streets, so I aired down to 22psi for the park.

We had a great turn out for the event!
