Hi, im new here found this site on google some months ago and started check it out, liked it so much that some weeks later i signed up.

Litle about me, i bought my first car in 2006 it was a cheap suzuki sidekick 1.6 16v dont know why i bought it i just wanted a 4x4 vehicle to mess around with, after that there was no turning back i was hooked of that feeling to be in the mountains taking trips with friends and just stand looking at the view from the mountains and nature, after that i have owned about 45-60 jeeps suzukis and hilux pajero all kind of cars but after all that the suzuki was the car i used the most !! it was so cheap to get parts and so easy to modify that i didnt need to save up mony to get where i wanted to be.

I sat for months and saved up mony to buy a car also sold my 2 other pajeros, as i wanted to go smaller. Zj jeep was my plan but some how i found this suzuki and could get that idia off my mind, enden up buying it 2 days later.

spec:
Suzuki Vitara
2.0 V6
Manual

Mods:
33'' tires
mild boddy and suspension lift
manual locking hubs front
Stock axles
think it has 4.88 in the diffs but not sure
cutted fenders and boddy
fenderflares for the tires

I started out by doing basic stuff, Fluids filters, brakes and small stuff. it needs a litle TLC like every old car, and im making a list of things i need to do
i will post him up later as i only did one trip with the car so far and i dont want to over build it as i want it to be under 1600 kg ready for trip

Sorry for the long post and my english is not perfect.

As it began to snow on friday me and my friend from krypteiaknives.com went out to the mountains with the dogs to get away from everything. Nothing big or long
only pics from a one stop we made but will show the car and some more.

Very nice! I love the Icelandic proportions--large fender arches and lower chassis height. The 33s on the Vitara look (and probably float) like the 39.5s on the Hiluxes, Cruisers and Patrols.

Oh yeah this thing floats, always so much funn driving past the big cars on cheap pile of awsomeness! they get sometimes litle pissed off wich is funn, as my car is 10 20 times cheaper than theyr's.

Want to runn 33x13.5R15 on 12.5'' wide rimz next winter to see if i can get more float as wider tires and rimz, i know there is not so much diffrense on paper but might do the trick on such light car.

got these AT tires new with the suzuki so i will leave them on this winter, use them as summer tires.

So my main mod that im hoping to get going in january is suspension and lockers, hoping to find a dead stock of lockers and suspension parts in work that i can buy cheap! new longer springs so i can trow out this 1.5'' platform thats under the stock suspension, and if im lucky front and rear locker.

I'd be a little worried about front driveline strength with a locker up front. An open differential definitely helps preserve the hardware. There may not be enough reserve strength up front for the bigger tires and locker. It may be less of an issue on snow than on rocks, but it could be a concern.

I wouldn't think the extra inch of tire section width would be worth the trouble and expense, myself. I believe you can do more with just air pressure adjustment.

This extra 1'' allowse me going to 1-2 psi in snowdriving, and the rim wideness will make it harder to loose the tire of the rim,

i was once told to not put Airlockers in my XJ stock D30 it will weaken it, put No-Spin or similar locks. I know there is frontlocker in stock but not sure if it will fit the V6 Axles

If all go to hell, i will have Toyota Hilux or Lc 70 drivetrain under it, front and rear axles will give it litle more wideness and add some kg wich im not to happy about.

That is a nice setup, plus you get good power without the headaches of running diesel in cold weather. And your English is just fine, I learned a long time ago that if someone actually wants to listen they will understand.

not so much more power than 1.6 motor litle better in hills wich we can call a win but feels the same, suzuki teached me long tima ago to live the moment as you could't go fast over and miss the landscape :p

Yeh i had a diesel before and in this cold it didnt blow as hot as any of my petrol cars, wich is nice! everything froze stuck over the weekend as usual in this weather so oil and put motoroil with a sponge on door rubbers helps, dont freeze stuck again.

and yes if people want to understand they will, just on some sites people are really into shooting at people that dont write or speak english 100 % dont see alot of it on this forum thou :)

To be honest, if "Americans" were required to pass an English language proficiency test some would not pass. English was my mom's second language and at many family gatherings I would listen to a mix of French and English being spoken.

Nice rig. Icelandic rig are awesome!
I feel stupid for asking, but which engine is the 2.0L v6?

It's an H20A. 60deg 24valve V6, really light and compact. Started out life as a 2.0L with 135bhp, then a 2.5L (H25A) with 145bhp but a much broader torque curve (there were a couple other revisions throughout the years on this one but all were similar), then finished life as a 2.7L (H27A) in the last gen grand vitaras with 185bhp.

They all sound like they aren't very powerful, but the actual drivability of them is excellent. They all had way more torque and mid-range than an equivalent inline-4 of the same era and were much smoother. I think they're Suzuki's most underappreciated engines. They also have a very unique sound, which I think is great. And they last forever if you keep an eye on the timing chain tensioner. You know they're reliable if they use them in airplanes. What's not to love?

Oh. I've never seen a sidekick with a V6 so I assumed they were only available with a 4 cylinders.

Yeah your description of the engine match what I felt when I first drive the new grand vitara. I had a 2007 honda crv which had the same power on paper (166hp) but the GV felt more torquey in the mid range than the crv.

I believe only the 4dr models got the V6. It's only rated for 5bhp more than the 2.0L I4 but again, it's got a lot more torque where it counts. It's really popular to swap in the later model 2.5L and 2.7L V6 into early sidekicks and vitaras. Apparently the early 2dr models with the 2.7L V6 swapped in with the 5 speed manuals are little rockets.

2.7 swap soo awsome !! Would be nice to do it to mine, there is a jimny with 35 36" and a 2.5 v6 that things moves and for snowdriving suree works good
