Alright so last time I did suspension work on this thing I swore I would never, ever again work on suspension. Every single friggin bolt is always welded on, you're on your knees, I don't have a impact gun, whine & moan etc. I forgot all that last night when I figured at about 5 pm I'd throw an AAL in at my buddies place (concrete floor!) without any other way to get home (he's outa town) or make a parts run if I broke a bolt. Stupid. Anyways, earlier I swung by toytec, nice guys and picked up some taco seasonings.
Axle relocation plates ( move the axle back 3/4"), axle degree shims, and new u bolts to hold the whole hack job sandwich together.
There was another option on the relocation plate for 1" , but my rubbing was slight, and stock with 285s rubbed on the rear.
Kinda a crap pic but you can where the tire rubbed the paint off at full flex, but not enough to crumple the sheet metal.
It's about a six pack job.
My strategy to get the center pin to drop into the perch.
What'd ya guys think about stacking plates on top of one another like this? From the side, the degree shim isn't fully captured by the u bolts due to the 3/4 relocate plate, but doubt it will spin.
I measure 4" of lift. Damnit! I'd rather have a Cali lean than this stink bug look. But she rides nice!
Next this weekend is figuring out how to hook up the parking brake over all those shims and AALs, finally relocate the BPV (after what is now 7" over stock) exhaust relocate (or chop it off), brake line extension, mount my full size spare under the truck so it's out of the cargo area ( until I get a bumper).
Things to order, and I'd appreciate some input here, are first and foremost new coils. I'm leaning towards 882s, but worried they're too stiff without a bumper and armor (planned but not yet). I usually find myself wheeling fully loaded with gear (and occasionally 8 pleople).
Cheers!
