Adventures of the Silver ghost

I thought I would start up a dedicated thread for my adventures in my Silver dualcab landcruiser.

I had one of my business partners over from Sydney and she had never been camping before, so I took her to Litchfield and Kakadu National Park, NT Australia.

My old Oztent RV 4 had seen better days so off to the shops I went, I was planning on getting something different but I liked the small changes that they had made to the Oztent so I got the same one. While I was at it I got a new 60 litre Engel with transit bag and 2 x Kokoda Oztent chairs.

This is a view from Wangi Falls in Litchfield.

I was hoping to drive the backway back to Darwin but the Finness river was flowing too much, and there are crocodiles waiting in that there water.

Driving back along the bitumen this shelf cloud appeared in the distance.

With my business partner offering to drive my 2nd car (silver Patrol) we drove the 250km from Darwin to Kakadu.

First nights camp, due to the humid days/nights not many were around. Peace and quiet.

A secluded water hole, unsure if a crocodile is in there. Didn't swim.

Right in centre of frame under that tree in the water was a 5m+ crocodile, only had my smart phone so could not zoom in enough.

Scott,

Thanks for posting. Great contribution to the forum. What happened to that spider pic? Was it a bird-eating spider?

Regards John

It was a Tarantula (common name) or otherwise known as a , whistling spider, barking spider, bird-eating spider. Can you see the pic? As I can.

Hi Scott

Don't know what happened there. I can see it now but definitely not when I first viewed your post. Had an "image removed" tag????? Yeah, that's a cool looking thing. The Top End must be a bit like Texas....everything grows bigger up there. Haha. Thanks again mate.

Regards John

All good, yeah maybe it was a flickr thing? I think the high humidity and temps combined with water makes things bigger here. I am sure I will find a spider eating a crocodile oneday ;)
