need help with Backcountry explorer

I have a tablet with backcountry explorer on it I down load What i thought was the majority of the state of California from Cal topo. now when I have it a t large scale it shows up but when i got zoom it says not connected Can someone explain what I am doing wrong should I delete cal topo and go with something else uses or ?

Make sure when you download the maps you set the level of detail to the max zoom level you want.

When you select the area you want to download, and click on the download icon, a window shows up with "Max Zoom". Set this to the max level it shows. For me this seems to be 16.

You can learn a lot, quickly, by getting on youtube and searching for BCN tutorials. It's how I learned the app.

keep in mind that each zoom level is exponentially larger in terms of storage space consumed. i find that level 15 for topo or road maps is sufficient. i'll do 16+ for sat/aerial imagery but only select locations or else it really eats up the storage.
